Racketball Season 25/26 kicked off this Tuesday night, back and bigger than ever. For the first time we have four teams competing in the league. We have two teams at home every week, please come down and support.
Heswall Racketeers v New Brighton
I opened up the season with a game against Mike Flemming. A great game that Mike pipped 3-2. Club GOAT Mike Beacham then continued his unbeaten run with a 3-2 win against Karl Mullins. New Brighton then took an early lead with Mark Maddox beating Heswall debutant Matt Smith . A resurgant Paul Smith, fresh from a huge victory earlier in the week made short work of Andy Bough to level the tie. Peter Barton then showed some class and determination to win 3-1 and give our Racketeers a 16-9 win!
Heswall 57s v Xavarians
Ben Adams made his full team debut and added some real estate to his name with an impressive 3-0 win against Graham Evans. Paul Clayton then levelled the tie with a good win against Craig Beacham . Great to have you back Craig! The in-form Seb Gardiner then took on Xav's class bully and put him in his place with a good 3-2 win. Ian Noble levelled the game which yet again went down to the top order. Tom Clark facing off Nick Jones, with superstar Tom taking a 3-2 win. Heswall 57's win, 14-10.
Heswall Variety v Capitol
A full Heswall debut for Chris Proudlove and a good win for Lewis Clarke started off the night. The tie was all square when the hooded power-hitter, Paul Rigby smashed home 3 points. For the third time on the night, it went down to the top order. On this occassion the ever reliable Dan Parker couldn't take the win against a very impressive Chris Lea. Chris will be up against our Fury star Locky, next week at the our club.
Heswall Fury v LCC
Our new team had a tough looking fixture away at champions LCC and without a host of first team players. Lee Bull, Steve Patterson and Mark Irvine all made full team debuts. Lee Bull putting in a fabulous performance against Sam Pryke, losing the tie 3-2. No luck for Patto or Mark Irvine, who lost to Jason Hopkins. Losing to Jason is like the 'captain's bunker' at Golf. £5 dontation please Mark! Then came Neil Walker with his trademark ball control, a sketchy call away from making it 2-2 but still picked up a valuable point. Star man Locky then dazzled 3 points against Matty Dolphin. A good points haul from a tough opening night. LCC win 18-6.
Player of the week is Seb Gardiner. Standing up to the class bully and showing some great skill in the process.
Lots of racketball to come this season. Play with a smile everyone.
Chris
