Racketball Report Week 12

Last week due the snow it was just the Racketeers who opened against run away leaders LCC. Peter, Matt and I all took games for valuable points, the team lost 20-4.

Week 12 gave us a different challenge - without our big hitters we were for a trip to Steve Kyriacou’s Crosby Lights. No game again for Heswall 57's.

Paul Smith headed up the team at 1, solid and brave as a lion. A great performance against the very likeable Ade and very nearly took the game to 5. John Dunn , despite not playing for some time stepped in to help at 2. To John’s delight, his opponent was young, fast and loose. John gave it absolutely everything and took the game 3-2. What a hero. Our President, Colin Winstanley then made his debut at 5 and won 3-0 with ease. Great to have you in the squad Colin, i know you will wear the shirt with pride!

These three guys came through when the team needed some serious commitment on a dark January evening. They already make huge contributions with Squash, Juniors and club president respectively. We are so fortunate to have these guys at our members club, both on and off the court.

That left Rob Powley at 4, who didn’t need the after burners to take a 3-1 win. Captain’s play off at 3 as I took on Steve Kyriacou. I must have had an off day, straight on it to win 3-0. A very good 18-6 win for Racketeers. Thank you to Crosby for being great hosts as always, good Pizza too.

Player of the week comes from Colin with his 100%-win record and the heroic Dunny. John Dunn is player of the week.

The Racketball Open, Handicap and Ladies open are all on the board. Please get your games arranged. We also have a Doubles tournament next Saturday, 25th Jan, 2-415pm, all welcome.

Not receiving Email Newsletters?

  • Login and check you email address is correct.
  • Contact Us if you changed your email address.
  • Check you spam/junk folders (and mark the message as "not spam/junk" if you find it there).
  • Add "heswallsquash@no-reply.mycourts.co.uk" to your Contacts list or email address book.
