Ben Adams opened up the night, looking to give high flying Stompers an early real estate. Ed Dhenin however, had other ideas and took the game 3-0 for the Boasters . Lee Bull and Stephen Harrison then enjoyed a 5 set match up – with Stephen pipping the game 11-9 in the fifth. The in-form Darren Reid then made it three wins on the bounce and edge the Stompers ahead.
Andrew Potts then made his debut in this years Summer League against the lively Andrew Hurst , who started off well. Potts got into the game and took it 3-1. Bob Mc then looked to renew his rivalry with Matty Stapledon , playing under the watchful eye of Captain Rich. A terrific game and great performance from Matt, 3-1. The final match of the tie was Ryan Ghodrat v Dan Parker . Some fabulous racketball and three very close games, with Dan coming out on top. Giving the Stompers yet another win, 18 points to 9.
Ged’s Jedi’s then took on the Pokers, needing all the force to be with them if they wanted to keep up with the Stompers. Jayne Mcgrath was up first, against lead Poker, Brian. Yet another good win for Jayne, keep up the momentum! Mr President, Colin Winstanley then took on a lively Tom Mairs. A very close game of technique v speed, with Colin coming out 3-1 winner.
Paul Grannon and Kevin Ferguson then stepped onto court 5, Paul looked to show his stroke play whilst Kevin was full of endeavour. Another good win for Kevin this time, 3-1. Graham Rigby took on the returning Mark Evans. Yet again, the force was with the Jedi’s as Graham pulled off a strong win. Paul Rigby then took 3 points back for the Pokers with some ferocious ball striking. Tom Clark then completed the busy evening with a 3-1 win over our favourite pescatarian, Karl Mullins . Giving the Jedi’s an impressive 20-7 win and keeping within a whisker of the Stompers.
Finally, player of the week is Graham Rigby . Very impressive.
Summer League returns for our pre season, 19th August. Fixtures on the board behind court 2.
